I too have a certain soft spot for Southland Tales.

Yeah that movie doesn't work, but it's a pleasure to watch not work.Bryce Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17040954580033470664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-75873369185912253512011-05-23T08:13:01.344-07:002011-05-23T08:13:01.344-07:00Nice list! I also really dig Kelly's films, even SOUTHLAND TALES which most people poop on but I think is pretty amazing in a messy, flawed way.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-13576826415185912802011-05-22T11:14:03.507-07:002011-05-22T11:14:03.507-07:00@ le0pard 13: Thanks for the tip le0, if it's ...@ le0pard 13: Thanks for the tip le0, if it's as good as The Guards I'm sure to love it.

Love your reason for stopping The Stand.

@ Henry: Thank you sir, that's kind of you to say. Hope you enjoy it.

Yeah Knowing might not make the list of usual kind of list. But I like it more than most people. You could retitle that film "Yeah We Went There: The Movie" I mean the flaming elk alone has to get it on the list.

@ Simon: Yeah Evangelion is definitely an acquired taste. I think it's one of those things you need to encounter at just the right time, and if you don't you're screwed.

Good point on The Box. I snuck it in by association. Then again things didn't go well for Mars and look where it got them...Bryce Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17040954580033470664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-81224308619767564972011-05-22T09:38:02.452-07:002011-05-22T09:38:02.452-07:00God, Evangelion is so weird. Frailty and City of the Living Dead were also inspired choices.Henry Swanson's Glasseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03634791549111607503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-46955920716247068942011-05-21T11:59:47.006-07:002011-05-21T11:59:47.006-07:00That's a great collection for this day [or, wh...That's a great collection for this day [or, whenever... ;-)]. I have KNOWING on the hard drive and have not watched it yet -- I guess today would be perfect, huh? Good call, too, on CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD. I need to check out THE BOX.

If you equate THE PASSAGE with THE STAND, that's all the recommendation I need (btw, King's first epic was the only book of his I had to take a break from as I started reading it while sick with the flu).

If I would recommend one for today, mine would be Steve De Jarnatt's apocalyptic gem, MIRACLE MILE. It captures a specific time and place in L.A. extraordinarily well, too (I know, I was there). Fine and fun post, Bryce.le0pard13https://www.blogger.com/profile/09421175808461787862noreply@blogger.com
