The movie is definitely gritty in a way that those aren't, but Shutter Island (at least) isn't really steeped in that same atmosphere since it takes place elsewhere.

The other thing I really enjoy about the movie is Casey Affleck's performance. The combination of this and The Assassination of Jesse James... were a one-two punch for me that really made me take notice of him.Kurthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03503556850038852093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-85627375366900822082010-08-30T09:12:12.759-07:002010-08-30T09:12:12.759-07:00Lol, good to see that you're more even keel th...Lol, good to see that you're more even keel then your fans.Bryce Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17040954580033470664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-74771675613855087762010-08-30T06:06:14.653-07:002010-08-30T06:06:14.653-07:00@ Bryce: Big fan, keep up the great work.@ Bryce: Big fan, keep up the great work.Chuck Hogannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8121497265402071351.post-11175379223965665782010-08-30T01:46:35.636-07:002010-08-30T01:46:35.636-07:00@ Neil: Many thanks for the kind words. But I still think that Chuck Hogan is kind of like The KMart Dennis Lehane.

For him being someone I'm not crazy about I've actually written a lot about Hogan, some of it even nice. Writing three articles based upon a guys work isn't being dismissive its being honest.

And honestly Prince Of Thieves was kind of a terrible book. I suppose it helps that he wrote for The Wire, so moving to film isn't too much of a stretch?

And I know I've said it before, but you really need to read/watch The Friends of Eddie Coyle.Matt Keeleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06879233228833576188noreply@blogger.com
