Things That Don't Suck Becomes A Big Brother

A younger sibling has entered the scene and I know you all are going to play nice with it.

The Son Of Danse Macabre is going to be strictly a horror blog/book exploring the last thirty years of horror media through the concepts and theories of Stephen King's Danse Macabre. I want to do something really ambitious with SODM, not only end up with a workable manuscript (ambitious enough), but one in which horror fans directly participate. I've got an outline but there's plenty of room for improvisation within it. I want this to be, a truly collaborative experience where the readers let me know what they think have been the most important events in the last thirty years of horror as I write it.

As a result getting as many readers on board as quickly as possible is important. And if any of my blogger friends (particularly my horror blogger friends) can spare some space on your sidebar, or even a post, I will be in your debt.

How is this going to affect Things That Don't Suck? It really shouldn't. Son Of Danse Macabre will be running on a slower time table thanks to the posts length (there won't be a post under 2000 words) and the increased need for research. That said there will be new content on Danse Macabre at least a couple times a week. Things That Don't Suck will continue its brisk posting schedule unabated.

In the meantime I hope you'll take my invitation to dance. I hope you'll enjoy it and help spread the word. Together we can make this something special.

Sidebar space will be given at Agitation, posts will be forthcoming (I was planning on launch my Summer of Satan retrospective after Shots on the Blog, so the timing is fortuitous), and the invitation to the dance is cordially accepted. Let's whirl through those ghostly ballrooms and out into the moonlight ...

Awesome. I've added it to my blogroll and will spread the word as best I can. Good luck, Bryce.

Thanks, Bryce. My idea is to re-read 'Danse Macabre' (like I even need an excuse!) and plan my viewing based around that and my Summer of Satan retrospective.

Something's already sprung to mind based on King's neat summarising comment on the original 'Amityville Horror' ("think of the money, indeed"), a sentiment that seems even more apposite in our credit-depleted society. I'll think it through a bit more, then start drafting something out.
